what happens if you floor a lotus as you merge onto the highway

something breaks, you lose traction, and end up off the road, over a ditch, and past a fence onto the bike path...

Saw this on my drive home yesterday, and a friend's dad happened to be riding his bike past and got a pic.

My recreation based on assumption

I always associate the Esprit with the malaise era, which, rightly or wrongly, prevents me from wanting them too much.

Esprit doesn't make that much power. More likely somebody was trying to dig their phone out of their pocket in those impossibly small seats.

my friend's dad who happen to be riding his bike past is a Lotus mechanic and knew the guy, driver claimed "something broke in the suspension", but that's a little hard to confirm as there is no a lot broken in the suspension.

so, other explanations such as phone retrieval are not exactly out of the realm of possibility
